Locate the main 12V battery. Remove the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) plug connected to the negative terminal of the battery. The system is no longer able to detect the battery condition and goes into bypass mode, permanently disabling the Auto Start-Stop. With the engine fully warmed up, the reading at idle should be 18 - 20 InHg. At 3,000 RPM, it should be around 21 InHg. If readings are under 18 InHg, check the intake manifold nuts to make sure they are tight. The gasket may have failed; spray a water mist at the gasket to see if the gauge reading changes.

A side benefit was that it also disabled start/stop. However, when it was plugged in the engine had a noticeable rough idle and the trans didn't shift properly. When I removed it, the idle and trans. was back to normal. I contacted Range and was told to send it back for an "update". That was done, but there still was a rough idle and shift issue. The deceitful part is your battery/alternator relationship. Alternators do not charge batteries anymore. When the battery reaches a level somewhere below 75% charge the stop-start no longer has the juice to work and your car's computer system disables start-stop in an attempt to keep your car starting when you need it.
