Rattling noise, clicking noise, or cracking one will create the whirring sound like an electric motor turning, with the main cause: Faulty spark plugs. Compressor clutch. Brake pads. Vacuum leaks. Water pump. Idler pulley. Pilot Bearing. Clutch Pedal.
Idling versus restarting Idling versus restarting your engine — it’s wasteful and costs you more. This question has been around for a long time and there are lots of myths and just plain bad advice about which uses more fuel; idling or restarting your engine. So let’s get to the facts. Starting a cold engine uses a lot of fuel
Engine idling is particularly bad for air quality, and the World Health Organization estimates that air pollution is responsible for 4.2 million deaths each year. Research conducted by Argonne via the Department of Energy estimates that 11 million tons of carbon dioxide, 55,000 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 400 tons of particulate matter are
A PW20XX can go from flight idle to 95Z% take-off in 2 seconds. In fact 2 seconds is the max allowed for ground testing after engine change (as I recall). Ground idle to 95% take-off takes 4-6 seconds. On the JT9D-7A/AH, we would move the throttle very slowly until we passed flight idle (about 75% N2, as I recall).
Myth: Idling Your Car to Warm Up the Engine is Good. Fact: No. Quite the opposite is true. There was a time decades ago when cars equipped with carburetors needed to be idled for a few minutes in cold weather because the air/fuel mixture was too rich in fuel. Warming up the engine helped improve the carburetor’s ability to properly balance
So we suggest finically-focussed self-interest cues be included in messaging used by awareness campaigns to reducing idling in Delhi. For example, a message could say: RED LIGHT: ON. VEHICLE: OFF. SAVE RS 30,000 A YEAR! Different ways of displaying the cues, with and without volunteers, can be tested using field experiments.
